The artist's biography

Geisha – TATIEVA

Tatieva was born in Grenoble in 1965. A self-taught painter, she has been painting and writing since childhood. Acrylics lend themselves to all her whims and she enjoys mixing colours outside the codified bounds of the chromatic wheel. She combines up to 20 colour washes to achieve the desired luminosity. Tatieva has been in the public eye since the summer of 2003, both through exhibitions and in published posters and cards.

Geisha exudes an air of Japan. An extraordinary and exotic world surrounds these young ladies who keep men company for a moment, offering them singing, dancing, the tea ceremony, calligraphy, comedy, conversation and smiles. Nothing more, nothing less. They wear an elegant and luxurious kimono with a belt tied at the back, unlike that of prostitutes, which is tied at the front.

The line of the nape and the bare, arousing skin underscore the grace and delicacy of this geisha. Chance, prosperity and longevity are conjured up by the presence of Koï carps ad the feng shui symbols of the colours evoking sentiment and energy.
