The artist's biography

Flamenco by Marmouchka

Born in Marseille in 1974, Mamourchka has been painting in Lyon and exhibiting since 1998. Brought up on music, opera and ballet, she does classical dancing, plays the piano, speaks several foreign languages and has travelled on her own since she was 15.
Having a passion for Madrid, where she spent 2 months, she is inhabited by a power as intense as that of flamenco and bullfighting; whence her choice of this powerful and energetic red.
Travelling extensively, she is inspired by the diversity of women all over the world:
geishas, Japanese, Chinese, flamenco dancers, Cuban singers, young women from Eastern Europe or Russia.
Her paintings feature a variety of typographies according to press cuttings from foreign newspapers.
Her pictures convey travel, mystery and sensual pleasure. Woman, with or without underwear, woman from every angle. Between pleasure and beauty, her work is the start of a caress, a caress for the eyes.
