The artist's biograhy
"Les barques" by Jean Laborie
Jean LABORIE was born in La Roquebrou on 30th May 1912. He started out drawing satirical and humorous drawings and then painted in oil until his retirement. He then decided to branch out into watercolours. “My work is a lifelong adventure” he says. He is a member of the Cantal Arts Society and the Leonardo da Vinci Academy, and has made a significant contribution to developing the tourist industry in his department.
His aim, both in his art and on a more personal level, has always been to promote his region, La Roquebrou and the Cantal, as well as the scenes and seaside of Brittany that he so loves.
The landscape artist in him loves old stone buildings, water and monuments. In all his works, the accuracy of his drawing and realism is always at one with his talent and sensitivity.
