The artist's biography
Sans titre by Nathalie Chambon
Born in Rouen in 1964, Nathalie Chambon, has lived in Aurillac since the 70s and is currently a teacher of plastic arts. In 1982 she got into the Paris 1/Sorbonne University of Plastic Arts, where should would acquire a solid grounding in the visual arts and a definite taste for American Abstract Expressionism. In 1994–95, after having been in a number of exhibitions, she had her own exhibition at the European Gallery in Boston (USA).
Nathalie Chambon does not work on an idea or preliminary sketch, but rather on the spur of the moment, with totally unbridled wide-ranging movements, rubbing, sticking, dripping and spraying the paint to form amazingly balanced constructions of contrasted harmony. It is in this immediate relationship between the soul of the painter – the creative gesture – and the pictorial result that all the power of her painting resides. The absence of an initial idea frees her from the normal patterns of thought, from innate or acquired paradigms, thereby enabling her deepest feelings to work their way directly to a visible manifestation
